June

June was a good, busy month for us with a lot happening.  We kicked it off with Emily and Lars' wedding in San Antonio at which we had a blast.  Daniel just loved being with all of his cousins and had a blast playing with them all.

 

Joseph had fun finishing up this last season of football.  His team made it to the finals, but lost the championship game. 

 

Joseph is working a lot with a couple BYU interns and a new hire that have come into our ward.  They teamed up together to play in a sand volleyball tournament for the new employee network at Dow.  They were pleasantly surprised to win 3 or 4 games of the tournament (finishing 3rd). 

 

Michelle started taking Daniel to swim lessons and stays after for a water aerobics class with other ladies from the ward.  Lets just say the they have all become a bunch of pool rats and frequent the pool wherever and whenever possible (which comes at no surprise since we are regularly in the 90's these days). 

 

Joseph had his first (and hopefully last) motorcycle wreck this month.  As he was leaving work, he changed lanes before an intersection and was surprised to find a truck stopped in the intersection only 30 or so meters ahead.  He hit the brakes, laid the bike down, and slid across the pavement into the truck (which was at a stop).  He was very blessed to have only road rash on his hand, elbow, and knee, along with a sprain in his right knee.  We have learned a lot from this experience (namely, use saline to remove bandages and to not rip them off dry; to wear the proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) which now includes gloves) and that even when we drive as defensively as possible, the unexpected may still arise.  We feel protected and blessed through this whole experience.  And don't worry, the bike only had cosmetic damage. 

 

We have had a lot of busy nights this month.  We have made some new board game friends with the Wilcox family.  They have come over and played board games for the last two Sunday nights, and it looks promising to be a regular deal.  This is great because we all like to play board games, and it is much more fun with 4 than  it is with 2. 

 

Michelle had her birthday this month.  Joseph had to frequently remind her that she is now officially OLD.  25 is a big deal, she's now in her second quarter century. Next time that happens, she'll be 50.  Whoa.  She got to celebrate it by being in charge of the registration of Youth Conference which started on that day.  We made sure to celebrate it before hand so that she could still feel the love. 

 

Michelle got a new calling: Music boss lady.  I think there is some official name for it, but she is basically in charge of everything music for sacrament and ward choir.  she has taken it in stride and is doing great.  We are still trying to figure out how to have Joseph watch two wiggly boys as mom goes back and forth to the stand.  We may consider forming an alliance with the Wilcox couple to help barricade them in.

 

Daniel is more of a big boy every day.  He is still thoughtful and loving towards his baby brother.  He is learning to put on his shoes and traces letters on a big piece of butcher paper.  He still plays outside on the play set that daddy built for him, regardless of the heat.  Daniel loves watching the Incredibles and will often pretend to be Dash and runs laps around our house.  This proves to be specially useful after dinner, just before bed time.

 

Jason is getting bigger and cuter every day.  He had his 4 month check up earlier this month and he is in the ~95th percentile for just about everything.  He loves to smile whenever he sees Mommy, Daddy or Dan Dan.  He is now ticklish and loves to laugh, although it takes some coaxing sometimes to get him started.
